Who’s Telling Your Story: Perspective and Point of View
Have you ever read a story where the characters seemed to be speaking directly to you or you felt intimately connected to the plot? That author took the time to find the right point of view and perspective for that story.
The choice between first person and third isn’t simply a matter of pronouns. The point of view you choose will determine who tells your story, who the main characters are, how close to the characters and plot your readers feel, and more.
The perspective you choose is the lens through which your story is told. Is your story seen through the eyes of a child or an adult? Is the speaking character a part of the conflict and action or a witness? Point of view and perspective can make or break a story.
This workshop will not only cover the pros and cons of different points of view, but also how to decide which point of view perspective is right for your piece. We will look at examples, write, and rewrite.
